Low Pass Filter Replacement Services

 

Scratched or damaged imaging sensor? We can replace the original Low Pass filter, with an OEM manufacturer provided filter, returning your camera back to perfect order. 

The "Low Pass" filter has more than one purpose. First, it blocks unwanted Ultraviolet (UV) and Infrared (IR) light from reaching the imaging sensor, allowing the camera to render normal images of only what the human eye can see. Secondly, the Low Pass filter protects the imaging sensor from damage caused by foreign material contamination or improper cleaning methods of the end user. If your imaging sensor filter has been scratched or damaged you will notice imperfections on the resulting images. Removing these imperfections during post processing (using Photoshop, Aperture, etc...) can be very annoying especially when editing large numbers of images.

Using a Tripod

 

When it comes to astrophotography, a tripod is a must, not an option. 

Creating these images can be a slow business compared to the blazing shutter speed of your average photo. If the cameras moves during an exposure, even a fraction of a fraction of an inch, your entire composition will likely be ruined. 

Different Types of Astrophotography

 

For the most part, astrophotography divides into two styles. There's long exposure shots, showing stars streaking across the sky in a dizzying array of circles. Then you have short exposure shots, which is your more traditional glamor photos of the Milky Way.
